Welcome to the Fuel Fund of Maryland’s utility assistance application portal. Below you can review who qualifies and how to apply for potential utility assistance.
Our utility crisis intervention programs are structured to assist a BGE household who:
- CURRENTLY HAS NO POWER OR
- HAS RECEIVED AN IMPENDING TURNOFF NOTICE
BGE HAS TURNED OFF THE POWER AT MY HOME. WHAT DO I DO?
- Submit an online application (below) to the Fuel Fund for review.
- Applications are only accepted: Monday, Wednesday & Friday online between 9am – 1pm.
- FFM reviews your BGE account in “real time”. Don’t submit false information.
- Please allow up to 5 business days for processing and response.
- Please carefully read all instructions that are sent to you by the Fuel Fund.
- If you do not respond as directed or have a delayed response, your help will be delayed.
- DO NOT submit multiple applications. This action only causes delays.
I RECEIVED NOTICE FROM BGE THAT MY POWER WILL BE TURNED OFF. HELP!
- Submit an online application (below) to the Fuel Fund for review.

MY BGE BALANCE IS HIGH AND I DON’T HAVE A TURN OFF NOTICE. WHAT DO I DO?
- You DO NOT meet Fuel Fund’s qualifications for assistance.
- DO NOT apply to the Fuel Fund. Your application will be denied.
- Contact your local State energy assistance office: 1-800-332-6347.
- The Fuel Fund is not affiliated with the Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP); a state agency/benefits program which administers the state's LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program), known as the Maryland Energy Assistance Program (MEAP).
- Contact United Way Helpline for additional resources by dialing 2-1-1.

- If you meet FFM qualifications for assistance, Staff will guide you through the process in a kind, caring, professional and transparent manner.
- Please be prepared to be accountable during the assistance process.
- Applications for help are at the highest levels in 3+ years. BE PATIENT!

- We were founded in 1981 and are a small, nonprofit organization that receives no funding from the Federal, State, County and/or City level(s).
- We are not a benefits program and not mandated by any entity.
- The financial assistance we provide is through the generosity of donors.
