Welcome to 2026!
It’s hard to believe how quickly 2025 passed but what a year of impact we achieved together! Thanks to the generosity of more than 14,000 donors, foundations, businesses, community partners, and places of worship, the Fuel Fund of Maryland provided financial grants to 3,332 BGE households, reaffirming our mission: keeping households connected.
Since 1981, the Fuel Fund has proudly supported BGE residential customers in need. While we originated from BGE, we operate independently to provide financial assistance to households at risk of losing power or already in the dark. Your support makes this possible, and 2025 was no exception.
What Your Generosity Made Possible in 2025
- $1,261,638.13 in financial grants to qualifying households
- $3,618,953.55 in resolved utility debt
More than 50% of the households we assisted had no power: meaning they were disconnected, cold in winter or hot in summer.
Why Your Support Matters More Than Ever
January 2026 brings another BGE rate increase. Utility costs continue to rise while households struggle to meet basic living needs. That’s why the Fuel Fund – now entering its 45th year of service – is more important than ever.
Every household we help contributes toward their balance. The Fuel Fund then pays the remaining amount to bring the account to zero, giving families a fresh start. This approach ensures accountability and responsibility….what we call “skin in the game.”
