Do you need help paying your BGE utility bill?
Our goal is to provide financial grants to qualifying BGE residential customers who either have no power in their homes or have received a turn-off notice from BGE. We assess your eligibility for a potential Fuel Fund financial grant; however, we do not determine BGE balances, OHEP* eligibility, or OHEP* financial assistance.
*Benefits program administered by the State of Maryland
If you receive a financial grant from the Fuel Fund, you’ll be asked to pay a portion of your outstanding BGE balance since you are the “owner” of your utility bill. To be eligible for a potential financial grant from the Fuel Fund, you must be a BGE residential customer or use a form of bulk fuel (oil, propane, kerosene, or pellets). If you are struggling to pay your BGE bill or make monthly payments, please visit bge.com/heretohelp to review payment plans, budget billing, energy saving resources and more.

- I have NOT received a financial grant from the Fuel Fund in the last 365 days.
- I currently have no power in my home OR in receipt of an impending turn off notice from BGE.
- I have made at least four separate payments to my BGE utility account over the past year. I understand that multiple quick payments made in succession do not count toward this requirement.
- I understand that beginning July 1, BGE residential customers can apply for financial assistance through the $15 million BGE Customer Relief Fund, managed by the United Way of Central Maryland. Eligible customers may receive a one-time grant of $250 to $750, credited to their BGE account. I also understand that the Fuel Fund is not a part of this relief fund.
- I understand that the Fuel Fund accepts a limited number of applications each day. As a result, I may not be able to submit an application if the daily limit has been reached.

- Fuel Fund can only assist with either BGE residential customer request or a bulk fuel customer request (age 60+) once every 12 months.
- You must be a BGE residential customer to submit a Fuel Fund application.
- It is important to note that our funding model can change at any time since we rely on the generosity of donors to provide financial grants to BGE customers.

Treating you with dignity and respect
As a small non-profit with four full-time employees, the Fuel Fund may take up to 10 business days to review applications due to high demand for utility assistance. Despite the volume, we ensure all applicants are treated equitably and fairly.
