Apply Online – BGE Residential Customers Only

💡 Important Update for BGE Customers

In accordance with a recent order from the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC), all service turn-off notices have been canceled. BGE customers will not be disconnected for non-payment between December 30, 2025, and February 28, 2026.

What This Means for Applicants

  • Through February 28, 2026, customers with a past-due balance may apply for potential financial assistance from the Fuel Fund.
  • Applicants without power or facing imminent disconnection remain Fuel Fund’s top priority.

🧭 Additional Resources for Utility Assistance

If you are seeking help with your BGE bill, the Fuel Fund encourages you to explore additional resources available in the BGE service territory:

Maryland Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP)
For statewide utility assistance, please contact OHEP at 1‑800‑332‑6347.

BGE Customer Assistance Options
Visit bge.com/help for programs, payment arrangements, and utility assistance information. You can also visit bge.com/relief for updates on special programs, including the new $2.5 million relief fund for BGE gas customers (effective January 21, 2026 at 8:00 AM). And don’t forget to use your BGE app to pay your bill, ask questions, etc.

Important Reminder: Always Pay Something

Whether a moratorium is in place or not, it is essential to keep making payments on your BGE account. Even a small payment helps prevent large balances from building up.

✔️ Pay something: every payment counts.
✔️ Never stop communicating with BGE.
✔️ Reach out early to BGE if you need help.

Staying connected and informed is the best way to protect your household and maintain utility service.

✅ Am I Eligible?

To apply for a potential grant from the Fuel Fund of Maryland, you must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • I am a BGE residential customer (must have an active BGE residential account).
  • I have not received a Fuel Fund grant in the past 365 days.
  • My BGE service is off (power has been disconnected) or I have an active turn-off notice.
  • NEW: Through February 28, 2026, applicants with a past-due balance may apply for potential financial assistance.
    • Applicants without power or facing imminent disconnection remain top priority.
  • NEW: I am NOT on a payment plan with BGE
  • I have made at least four separate payments to my BGE account in the past 12 months.
(Note: Multiple payments made in quick succession do not count.)
  • I understand that Fuel Fund grants are not guaranteed and depend on available funding.
  • I understand that applications are capped daily. If the limit is reached, I may not be able to apply.

📝 Important: If you qualify for potential assistance, Fuel Fund staff will guide you through the process with care. Do not submit multiple applications, as this causes delays. If awarded a grant, you will still be responsible for a portion of your BGE bill. A Fuel Fund grant will not cover your full balance. You are responsible for managing your BGE account.

⏳ What to Do While Your Application Is Being Reviewed

Step 1: Remember, a Fuel Fund grant will not cover your full BGE balance.

Step 2: Check your email (including spam/junk folders) for updates and instructions.

Step 3: Once you receive an email from the Fuel Fund, read and follow all instructions carefully. Failure to do so may delay the help you are seeking.

Step 4: Fuel Fund of Maryland will never ask you to send money to a staff member through prepaid cards, Cash App, or similar services. If you need to make a payment, it will always be directly to BGE. If you ever receive a request that seems suspicious, do not send money.

  • You must actively contribute to reducing your balance with BGE.
  • Once you receive instructions from the Fuel Fund, follow them carefully and in a timely manner.
  • Do not submit multiple applications or use alternate communication channels unless directed.
