A Senior Citizen Trying to Make Ends Meet

Who benefits when you support the Fuel Fund of Maryland?

Mr. Taylor is 75 years young. He loves to bowl, watch Barney Miller, and cheer for the Ravens and Orioles.

Mr. Taylor is an active senior and was a professional house painter before retirement. But like many older Americans, he needed to supplement his income in this struggling economy. He found a job as a part-time shuttle bus driver for a local community college, but his worsening cataracts forced him to search for something closer to home. Without the additional income, he quickly fell behind on many bills, including his BGE payments. In the blink of an eye, his power was turned off.

Mr. Taylor called 211 for assistance and was referred to the Fuel Fund of Maryland. In less than 24 hours, our client service specialist was able to apply the necessary resources and funds so that Mr. Taylor’s power was restored.

“I was just trying to find a job to make ends meet,” said Mr. Taylor. “The Fuel Fund of Maryland is a blessing for a person who is just trying to do the right thing.”
